About Alpine Eagle

At Alpine Eagle, we are a team of machine learning practitioners and robotics engineers, building the first airborne, swarm-based system to provide protection against the rising drone threat. We believe that recent conflicts have shown the malicious and disruptive potential of drones in both civilian and defense scenarios. In addition, we are convinced that the next step in counter-drone is air-to-air. We want to ensure that all governments and institutions that believe in personal freedom and the rule of law have cutting edge solutions to protect against this rising threat.

We offer a work environment that is inclusive and open, with a flat hierarchy, and a purpose-driven team. We want to reinforce a culture where great ideas can flourish, and great people collaborate.

How you will make an impact

You’ll work as part of an experienced and rapidly growing team of software and robotic engineers developing motion planning and multi-agent control software for a highly innovative unmanned aerial system (UAS) solution. You’ll be able to see immediate results of your work by participating in flight tests and will get to lay the foundations of a new generation of multi-agent aerial systems.
 More specifically, you will:
• Apply your knowledge in trajectory optimization and real-time control to develop algorithms for control and guidance of highly agile UAVs.
• Develop vehicle, sensor and environment models and integrate them into our swarming simulation and training environment.
• Review academic literature and apply the latest advancements in the state of the art to our system development.
• Design and implement interfaces to peripheral systems such as the perception stack and ground control unit.
• Integrate with PX4-based autopilots and deploy your work to NVIDIA platforms on our UAV fleet.
• Contribute to the system architecture and product roadmap with your team.
• Mentor junior team members and interns.

Requirements

• M.Sc. or PhD in Robotics, Control Theory, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or several years of experience in related fields.
• A solid understanding of motion planning, numerical optimization and control theory principles as well as system architectures for autonomous systems.
• A record of successful research on control methods for agile flight and automated vehicle guidance and their application to physical systems.
• Multiple years of experience with PX4 – based flight stacks and operating UAVs.
• Experience with NVIDIA Jetson-based platforms and ROS2 is a strong plus.
• A hands-on attitude and strong sense of ownership.
• You approach complex problems systematically and document your results.
• You are a team player. You win when the team wins.
